That Pecker Head

Nature’s alarm clock is a little off. I’m not talking about my internal clock or even the weather. I’m talking about a woodpecker that has decided that to peck our aluminum stove vent cover (on the chimney) around 6:30am. Tarn informs me that he is a Northern Flicker. I call him Pecker Head. So the morning goes something like this:

rat-tat-tt-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-tat <pause> rat-tat-t-at-tt-t-t-t-t-t-t-at-tat <pause> rat-tat- “SHUTUp!!” tt-t-t-t-ttat <pau “That Pecker Head!!” se> rat-tat-, etc.

Banging on the stove pipe worked once or twice, but Pecker Head quickly became immune. Evidently he is asserting territory or trying to attract a mate. I wish him all the luck so maybe he’ll go peck someone else for a while.

  1. I have a solution, Remington over and under, # 10 Buckshot

  2. Shouldn’t you have posted this under “Gripes/Bitches”?…..

  3. I could have, but I viewed Gripes/Bitches as a category against people and organizations. I suppose it could include mother nature. So you can change it if you’d like.

BTW, Pecker Head rarely wakes us up anymore. He now visits every few days, later in the morning, and only pecks for a couple of minutes. Actually it is kinda fun now when he visits. So put down that gun JJ!
