They Had to Go to School for This?
In 1991, the Boston University commencement speaker admitted that he had copied part of his address word for word from a magazine article……. The speaker was the head of school’s Journalism Department, where student reporters and editors were taught not to plagiarize!……..

At my sister’s high school graduation (1996?), the superintendent of the school district gave the commencement speech. He told this inspirational/funny story about “his friend” that had been shot. The only problem was that it was from a forwarded email story that I had seen only the week before — it had been making the rounds big-time.
I don’t know if anyone ever made an issue about it, but it left a bad taste in my mouth that he was claiming this story as his own.

I don’t have any plagirific commencement stories, but I do have Tom Stafford, or heard him speak at my college graduation anyway. I don’t recall exactly what he said, but it was boring boring boring. What a snoozer speech. Who sez going to the moon is always exciting?

According to what I’ve heard, If they wanted someone from the Space Program with some Piz-zaz, you should’ve had them get Pete Conrad to speak if they really wanted to hear a great talk (I don’t think he gave what you would call speeches)….
But in your case Jek, I presume they picked Tom Stafford (name is even a “snoozer” isn’t it?) because he was from Oklahoma and I think he was running for public office at the time……
You sure picked the “Right (Stuff)” time to graduate…. eh?……
