Be a Border Patrol officer (in Oklahoma)
Yes, you heard right, the Border Patrol is running ads on local radio for officers…… I thought, well, they must be for use in Texas where the Mexican border is, although, I feel it had moved into Oklahoma years ago (see my post I don’t want to live in Mexico )……. The same night after I first heard the Border Patrol ad on the radio, I saw an interview on TV where a group of Mexicans were protesting on the Oklahoma capitol steps about the ads……. The reporter interviewed the Border Patrol representative first and asked the question of why they were recruiting officers in Oklahoma since the border was in Texas…… He stated that although we do not officially have a border in Oklahoma, we have a serious situation with illegal aliens……. As reported by the state of Oklahoma to the Feds, Oklahoma has over 160,000 illegal aliens enrolled in the public school system, and over 500,000 confirmed illegal aliens among the work force in the state…… The reporter, who obviously wanted to dispute this, turned to one of the protesters and asked what he thought of these figures, the man backed away without saying a word, so the reporter then asked if any of the protesters spoke English…… One person came forward as most of the crowd quietly disappeared…… He stated that these figures could not possibly be that high and the Border Patrol was just trying to single out and profile the Spanish-American population in Oklahoma…… The representative stated that these figures were filed directly by the state of Oklahoma to the Federal Government, if they are not correct, then there is a problem of erroneous reporting…… So-o-o, in either case, Oklahoma has a serious situation concerning illegal aliens which needs to be resolved……. The man and the reporter basically shut-up…… Do I need to add that this story did not appear again on the news?……..
I am seriously considering offering my services to the Border Patrol……. Agent MRambler……. Has a nice ring to it, don’t ya think?……..

I’m not sure I understand. So they are recruiting people to go to the actual border because Oklahoma has so many illegal aliens? Something seems amiss with that thinking.

They are recruiting both, Officers to work in Okla. and other states with actual borders. Just like there are billboards here in Ok. for the Dallas Police Dept. The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) uses border patrol officers wherever it does a illegal alien raid. As for Agent MRambler, Isn’t Green Bean still out at the Pasture? Nothing shows an willingness to tackle a new career like showing up at the interview with your own (former) Border Patrol cruiser.

They are recruiting officers for service in Oklahoma…. If and when the situation changes, the excess officers would be transfered to Texas….. I didn’t think it was that unclear, Jek….. Maybe I’ll write my next post s-l-o-w-e-r….. (sorry ’bout that, I just couldn’t resist – ya did leave yourself out there hangin’)
J.J., I’m already polishing up the Diplomat….. It still has the CB with the Motorola speaker and the “Stop immediately and show me your green card!” speaker horn in the grille…… a little tuning, new cop tires, cop shocks, and it’s ready to roll…… Now, I wished I would have bought that “Border Patrol” Winchester Model 74 rifle I saw at a gun show about 10 years ago…..

That’s where my Motorola Speaker Went, I remember now. Anything for the cause.

MR, I guess I could loan you my bear gun while the bears are hibernatin’. It’s a sweet little Marlin
lever-action, chambered for 45-70 gov’t. It doesn’t have a saddle-ring like the Winchesters, but it’s
still pretty John Wayne-ish.

I believe us old retired & semi-retired folks have way too much time on our hands. Wait a minute, wasn’t that a song?
Anyway, not complaining by any means.

We do seem to have the time to think things out….. We spend half of our time thinking about it – half of our time coming up with a super plan to do it – And then, that ugly third half of actually doing it comes into the picture, and the ‘ol bones just don’t want to cooperate anymore….. “Talkin’ ‘Bout My Generation” – I think that’s a song too…. I wonder Who did it?……
RTG – The rifle sounds great, but I just couldn’t “bear” to borrow it from you as one of those “bears” might wake-up early and get a “bearing” on you while you’re not looking (one of those old “bearing” jokes from out of the past)….. I do still have my U.S. Army issue 1911A .45 auto…. The problem is that the Army never made a left-handed holster for them, although, if you ever watched “Gomer Pyle”, Sergeant Carter had one…. I wonder if I could find his holster tailor or have one made to Army Specs…. Why?, I don’t know…. I guess I’ve entered into the first half of “thinking about it”…..

Remember the old adage for sidearms that you should file off the front sight, so it doesn’t hurt so much when the bear shoves it up your….
The 1911 is a decent enough piece for a lefty, except for the safety. An ambi safety can be installed, with a little fitting.
