Fire and Ice…..

I know I’ve said this before, but anyone out there who doesn’t live in Oklahoma that wants to switch living places with me, just let me know…… The last two days we have had sustained winds from 30 mph to 50 mph with temps in the 50’s and 60’s causing numerous wildfires….. Tomorrow a major ice storm event is supposed to move in with up to an inch of ice and temps well below freezing, lasting up to a week….. Night time temps in the single digits….. Ice is not nice to all those above ground electric lines….. So if I’m not in contact for a while, you will know I’m huddled around the gas stove reading a book by candlelight….. I just love to hate this place…..

  1. I much prefer James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain”.

  2. Yeah, even “The rain in Spain that falls gently on the plain” would be much preferred……

  3. Have you been watching North West weather lately? Floods, winds, snow, freezing, babies blown away. Jek’s basement a swimming pool, now an ice rink. No sympathy.

Do you like snow, MR ? Up here in the Blood O’ Christ Mountains, we’ve had 103 inches so far this season.

  5. I can’t even image that much snow!….. I mean, I’ve been to the mountains and seen snow, but I’ve not been where you see the ground most of the time and then you get almost 10 feet of snow on top of it!…. How do you get in and out of your house?…. Through the chimney?….. How high are the drifts?…… Still it might be better than ice?……

  6. The basement is okay since measures were taken. Valuables and non-valuables were rearranged as necessary (read as now a big mess). We lost power last night, but all is back on. Shingles blew off the house and into the neighbor’s window, now replaced. Sewer backed up, now unclogged. Can we skip to 2008?

  7. I just saw a weather report for Oklahoma City. I guess you do deserve sympathy.

  8. We lucked out with mostly sleet and some freezing rain, although we do have slick and hazardous roads, we do still have power…… They were not as lucky in the South East part of the state…… 140,000 without power and a frozen tundra until at least Wednesday…… Somebody send a blanket……
