So you wanna drive?
What a week I had. I left OKC @ 1530 PM on 1-29, Bound for Colo. Springs, CO scheduled for 0800 Tues Morning. I arrived there @ 0400 AM and was woken up at 0600 after just falling asleep so they could break the seal and start unloading( So much for a un interrupted 10 hour break). @ 0800 the phones start ringing. @ 1100 I head for Denver for load # 2 The traffic is getting ridiculous up there BTW, Get loaded and head for Mesa, AZ (Suburb of Phoenix) I made it to Trinidad, CO (Yeah RTG I was in the neighborhood but didn’t know how to get a hold of you) where the wind was blowing enough to blow me into Median so i went to bed @ 2000 PM, Woke up @ 0800 with 1 inch of snow on the truck and ice below that, By the time that I get to Raton, NM it was clear so I figures no bubbles no troubles, West of Albuquerque, NM It was snowing so much I could not see the end of the hood. But I plug on cause I’m a professional Right?. that lasts for 3 miles and then what do I find, Yup you guessed it SUNSHINE!!. I get to Flagstaff, AZ and it starts snowing again, While proceeding down Flag I come upon a another truck stuck in the snow in the right lane, another has tried to pass him in the left lane and he gits stuck so traffic is going up the shoulder. So here I go, Remember there is about 4 inches on the ground, and ice under it. I’m following a line of cars and the one in front of me starts to slow down while passing the 1 stuck in the right lane (Guess where the car was from Yup you guessed it OKLAHOMA) so I gets stuck effectively closing the interstate, Guess how popular I am now!!!. At this point my saviour comes in the form of 2 Arizona state troopers, I’m thinking this is it I’m gonna get the 1st 2nd and 3rd degree and they aren’t even gonna look at the 27 8×10 colored glossy pictures. alas those guys got their shovels out and started digging us out and helped the other drivers put on their chains and got the situation back under control In a matter of just over an hour. I have put them on my X-mas card list this is the 2nd time that AZ’s finest have helped me out, Think OHP would even consider being that nice?, The rest of the week went off reasonably uneventful. So MR what was that you were saying about wanting to be a co driver?

I tell ya, J.J., the way things are going at work right now, that sounds like a nice walk in the park…… Where do I sign-up?…… Although, in all reality, I don’t think I could cope with all the non-driving drivers and the weird weather we’ve been having of late….. Hats off to ya….. Keep On Truckin’, Dude……

I-17 between Flagstaff and Phoenix isn’t much fun, even in a car and good weather!
