S-Bay, E-Bay, L-Bay, L-Bay….
“SELL” is the Keyword….. I have lots of collectibles (or trash) that I have accumulated over the years and I’m tired of having them boxed-up and stored in a building…. Most of which I haven’t seen in ages, but I do know I have them and that they are in some box, in a building (10’x12’x10′)…… It’s time to pass (sell) them on….. Anybody know the “Ends and Outs” and/or “Shortcuts” to putting items up on E-Bay?…. Maybe a really good book on the subject?….. I sold some stuff on E-Bay years ago, but I imagine it has changed a lot since then….. I’m sure I can get on E-Bay and learn by experience, but if there is a lazier way, I’m all for it……

I can put you in touch with a friend who sells on Ebay. There is definitely some does and don’ts. He says that right now is not a good time what with income taxes and mortgages. Don’t be lazy. You’ve got some very collectible stuff.
First thing is to take an inventory. There is book for every category of collectible. The prices they quote will usually be high to make you think you have treasure and so you will need to buy their book. “Dealers” will only offer 1/3 of value. You can check prices by going to Ebay and see whats selling for what…..or Google it.
I’ve been through this a couple of times. I also worked in Collections in a museum. Which is another way to do it……donation for tax write off. Give me a call if you want to talk about it.

“Honest” dealers will offer 1/3.

If you go the eBay route, try to time your items so that they will end in the early evening on the weekend for your target timezone. I read somewhere that items ending when people are generally awake and using the computer command more bucks.
Also to echo Anon, make sure you know the market value of your stuff before trying to sell it. Then at least you can make an educated choice when trading money out for speed (of selling the item).

Some of us know some of the things that you have and would like 1st crack at it. As for selling on E, Mrs JJ has a pretty good handle on working that site.
