What?…. Elvis Dead?….. I just saw him and Jim Morrison the other day having a few “stiff ones” while they were target shooting….. Big “E” even showed me his “FBI” badge…… Mentioned something about him and “Tricky Dickey”…..

Elvis died on my sixth birthday. I was visiting my grandparents and I remember my parents talking about it. I really had no idea who Elvis was at the time — they told me he was “a singer”. I remember imagining he was a famous opera singer and I had a nightmare about some “Elvis Presley carpet sweeper machine” (no, I have no idea what that means) chasing me through the Jantzen Beach mall (in Portland, OR).

Man, TTop, you must have started smoking that wacky tobaccy at an early age. Or else, your parents must have been doing some heavy stuff when you were conceived. I think the Elvis dream was the way he sucked an entire generation into hell, damnation, etc. Same way the Beatles did it in the 60’s. Yuk, yuk.

TTop: How many times did I tell you about eating a Pizza with anchovies before going to bed.
MR; I did not put E in because I allready had 1 obvious one for all the old ones among us, I was sure you would get #2 and#6.
Jek: Buddy Holly and one of the Hollies? That gets you some of MR’s coveted negitave points -2.

08/16/1977 I was @ my aunts house in The TX Panhandle
12/08/1980 I heard about it probably just as most of you heard the news from Howard Cosell on Mon Nite Football
12/31/1985 MR Do You remember where we were when we heard about the Rick Nelson Plane Crash? ……………………………………….We were putting the finishing touches on the Mopar Club Display at Mike Kelly’s shop. Remember Benny Benson Spaced out sitting in the floor working on Booker’s Baby Hemi?

Jim Croche died? Seems like he was living quite nicely in all of the TV compilation spots in the 80’s.
I did indeed scroober up the Hollies for the Crickets — and they weren’t even on the plane! My knowledge of that period of time is swiss cheese-like, containing whatever fell out of MR’s head which happened to stick to my shoe. I did sort of remember that Waylon Jennings happened to survive, not taking the flight.

J.J., all the one’s I knew were already guessed by the time I checked your post….. I was tied-up with the MR quiz (Anon, PLEASE)…… BTW, I was in Jr. High Band practice when I heard about the Buddy Holley (real spelling on his last name) crash, and, I had just left the movie theatre from watching “The Blues Brothers” when I heard about John Lennon on the radio….. All they had at the time was that he had been shot…… Sad day…..

Re: Brian Jones (the former leader of the Rolling Stones)
I recently watched a film on his life & death on IFC.
Very interesting slant on what really happened to him.
Very entertaining flick.
