Music Trivia 08.26.07
This group formed in 1968 is one of the most sucessful progressive rock bands in history, in 1983 they reworked their musical style on their album which was titled after the record company’s catalogue number for it. one hit from this album’s video has several different versions and back when MTV played videos one never knew which one would be shown. Who were they? What was the album? and what was the song/video? 3 points.

Unfortunately for HS or Sunn, I’ll let J.J. sort it out, Sunn’s comment was held in moderation and I didn’t see it until this morning to approve it….. Sunn apparently commented without logging on, which, in order to cut down on spam, keeps the comment off the blog until Jek or I approve it…… I feel Sunn should get due reward, if, in fact, his answers are correct, due to the time stamp on the comment, but, I’ll leave it in J.J.’s cultured hands (Ha)……

The band was definately YES
90125 was the album
Leave it was the video
I must admit 90125 was the 1st yes album I purchased, But when I heard Starship Trooper on the radio I became a Big Yes fan. The 9012live tour was one of the greatest shows that I have ever seen the, The sloping moving stage was the most progressive things I had ever seen before. It was also one of the 1st concerts I ever heard thea the sound was mixed right. Some where I have a live Broadcast of one of the shows in Germany taped from the Radio. As for the video, that still is one of my favorite videos of all time, my favorite version is the one with all their heads on backwards and the tag in the lower left corner is also in reverse.

Yeah, HS I would have definitely got the band and album, but I didn’t remember the video — which is strange, since I watched MTV quite a lot in 1982. (Back then it seemed like they only had 10 videos that they kept playing over and over. Two of them were Asia songs.) Maybe by 1983 I had given up.?

Me too, jek. Thought MTV was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
My euphoria lasted about a year. Now, when flipping channels, I usually pass MTV, not bothering to even sneak a peek. My spouse told me the other day, it is now a continuous reality program(s).
