  1. I’ve never heard of owl light or the blind man’s holiday.

“Entre chien et loup” is pretty cool imagery.

  2. Got any idea what the french idiom is about? Those French! I just learned what “spirit on the staircase” means and its got nothing to do with what you might think. Then again, American also has some obscure idioms.

  3. My interpretation is the most obvious one, I guess: twilight you can see the form but can’t tell whether dog or wolf. But if there’s another explanation, I’m all ears.

  4. It came to me last night as I was falling asleep , when my brain is more pliable. “Between the dog and the wolf”, the dog is a creature of the day and the wolf is night, dusk in between. But why a holiday for a blind man?

  5. Those French – seems they have a different word for everything….. Maybe the holiday for a blind man is being able to see with his mind?…….

  6. Morning MR.

Yep, those French. Gotta love em. “Spirit on the staircase” is an idiom for those moments when you think of the perfect thing you should have said at the time. There is a small book of strange idioms and I believe the title is “Spirit on The Staircase”.

  7. Maybe the wolf killed the dog. The blind man needs a holiday to procure another seeing eye dog.

  8. Duh, anon’s interpretation is much better than mine.

  9. Also kinda sounds like “between a rock and a hard place”….maybe not. But what about “Blind man’s holiday”?
