This is the guilty pleasure thread
I have plenty of others, like The Jim Rome Show, but I mean musically. What may be “guilty” or embarrassing to one may not be to another. You don’t have to list them all at once, but I’ll get the ball rolling….
The Very Best of Hall and Oates has been getting a lot of play on my iPod. “You’re out of touch, I’m out of time….”

Some opera, mostly Italian. Got to love those melodies.

I don’t think of Hall and Oates as a guilty pleasure — they made a lot of quality music over the course of 15 years or so. What’s weird is both my sister and my sister-in-law count “You Make My Dreams Come True” as one of their favorite songs. Or should I say “You Make-a My Dreams Come True?”
I probably have a lot of musical guilty pleasures. Like Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love,” and stuff by Kanye West, Junior Senior and Fountains of Wayne. I tend to get sucked in by anything with a catchy melody and/or really catchy production. Things like “They Don’t Know” by Tracey Ullman :-).

Sheesh, anon, do you hang out only with rednecks? Although I don’t care for opera, it should cause any embarrassment.
But I’m not turning this into a support group…
Good ones, TTOP.
I wonder who else is going to chime in. Jek has actually admitted to one in another thread, IIRC.

Musically I must admit my 2 guilty pleasures are The Human League and The Pretenders. Also The Bee Gees are getting some ear time from me also. Mainly the pre S.N.F stuff.

Mr. Sooner, Sir,
“It should cause any embarrassment”? Should I be embarrassed and seek help or was that an inadvertent shine induced slip of the typing finger?
Awaiting you pleasure Sir,

Sorry, anon, there should be an “n’t” in there somewhere. Absolutely no cause for embarrassment.
My apologies.

Sounds good to me. I give it 10 for dance-ability.

I hated disco in the 70’s. However, compared to Rap & Hip-Hop dominating the airwaves in recent years, it doesn’t sound half bad to me these days.

Wow, pretty tame choices, folks.
Let’s see if I can escalate the cringe factor a bit.
Whitesnake.
Zeppelinesque riffs. Deep Purple tannins (the early stuff). Misogynist lyrics. And the glam hair, oh the hair! What’s not to like?

Yes they do. I had almost forgotten. There’s been so many good bands.

Fine. I’ll say it. Prepare to be shocked. Plug your ears. I like… uh… not all but several… songs by… recordings of… Oh I can’t!.. but I must.. fine. ABBA. There I said it. Disown me if you will. My guess is that it has something to do with my childhood. I was very young then, you see. And I was exposed to all that Dancing Queen stuff. And well, years later I realized that I like that flanging compression, strings, mono-synth lines, and driving bass.

I thought about outing you on the ABBA thing, Jek, but was hoping you would admit to it. Having grown up with it, it still makes my toes involuntarily tap.
