Quiz-a-Matic is back…..
Since it looks like everybody wants the return of Quiz-a-matic, the first new QUIZ will be up at 2:00 pm CDT this Friday – 09APR10….. Â That’s noon for you West Coasters…….
I will review and post the rules as comments to this post prior to Posting the first quiz….. Â “The game’s afoot, Watson” ….. (who really said that?)……

Yes and No, Anon….. If you go by the original Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s canon of 56 short stories and 4 novels he wrote about “Sherlock Holmes”, Sherlock never once said that famous line in any of them, so, if you’re a fanatic SH fan, the answer’s no…. The movies changed that as the Sherlock played by Basil Rathbone did….. The power of movies over books started way back in the ’30’s, and, sadly continues today…

Klingon captain said it in Star Trek 6. I think it’s from Henry V (not the Watson part, though).

Yep, the phrase has been used all over the movies since Rathbone used it the 12 Sherlock Holmes movies he did in the late ’30’s – early ’40’s…. It’s been used so much that it is naturally assumed that it was in the original Doyle stories first published in the Strand magazine in England in the late 1800’s……

The rules of “Ultimate Quiz-a-Matic” are few and will be enforced by PDB’s army of bunnies….. Cheat at your own risk!….. You don’t want the dreaded “Curse of the Rabbit’s Foot”, do you?
As in the past, points will be awarded for correct answers as specified in each individual quiz – Smart-ass answers will be awarded + or – points depending on the humor factor of said SA answer….. Quiz-master MR will determine said humor level and award accordingly…..
Also, as in the past, Internet usage for answers is PROHIBITED, unless, no one gets the correct answers, at which time, the Quiz-master will give the go ahead to use the Internet in order to finish out a specific quiz….. You’re supposed to use whatever’s in your brain and whatever reference books you have available to you…… The objective of the quiz is to raise the IQ of the MR Community (yeah, right – well, it may be possible.)……
That’s it, oh, yeah, there will be prizes, just don’t expect to be able to retire on them……. The Games begin tomorrow….. Let the smartness begin!…….
