I fixed it for you, J., but, not before Robo made the link….. Next time you’re over I’ll show you how to do it in a post and/or a comment….. Don’t worry J. – computing is hard at times (Ha!)….
I don’t know how to tell you how to do it. If I type an example it will become a click-able link and you would not see the example. For example artbyrobo see what I mean.
Meh. Dumb luck, coincidence, etc. You can always fiddle around with numbers and make what you want numerically, but it doesn’t necessarily correspond to anything physical. See: http://www.xkcd.com/687/
Also funny that Adams somehow knew to express it as km/(s*MParsec) instead of km/(s*LY) or km/(s*AU) or s^-1.
Most estimates are larger; all have varying degrees of uncertainty.
I remember a time long, long ago (high school) when the number of ever thing was 3.14159 it was found everwhere. Don’t you just love the power of math.
You’re asking me?….. I don’t even know what you’re talking about – I’ve been away from math class way too long, but, if 1 = 0, then my bank account is all screwed up and I have only 42 dollars in it….. 42, I’ve heard that before, somewhere, um-m-m-m…… That’s about the extent of my universe…… Yeah, it’s a sad state of affairs…..
Sounds like something he would do, although, I can’t think of why….. Maybe he thought we didn’t need math in the MR Community (or, that we would abuse it)…..
Are you sure the banks didn’t disable addition. No addition to my bank account only subtraction. Maybe only division seems like every time I look it’s gone down by half. It was at 42 cents about 5 looks ago.
I think most of you have heard this one, but, since we are in math class with this post, here it is – An old Dave Gardner joke…. The story is about a person who meets a friend that has been attending college studying algebra….. So, he tells his friend, “Speak me some!”…. His friend says, “pi R Squared”…. He immediately retorts, “See there, you ain’t learned nothin’ – Pie are round – Cornbread are Square!”….. So much for education…..
Leave it up to me to post something that polarizes the entire community, and be taken a l l the way around mars and up past Pluto (which by the way is 42 light years apart I don’t know I’m just being a smart a**) and as for the problems with the link, If you need to find out the torque on the main bearings, or the best way to drive from LA to NYC I’m on top of that. Computer terminology and proper formatting I defer to those of you who know such things. Oh and BTW HS, It seems that I seem to always post things that you disagree with, I’m sorry I don’t mean to upset you. That being said, can you translate so a dumb old truck driver/Mechanic can understand what you said?

Ah, but that’s different:
e^(i*pi) 1 = 0
September 19th, 2010 at 9:02 pm
Well, that didn’t typeset correctly, did it?

I’m going to try this again:
e^(i*pi) 1 = 0

Apparently, the dreaded jek has disabled addition!

HS: That’s strange that WordPress isn’t automatically escaping the + signs.
To get one, use +
Husky + Sooner = HappyGuy

Hey Jek, Will that work with my bank account? 🙂

JJ, no I don’t always disagree with you. See the “Sarah” thread!
