MR Coroner 19 Apr 2012
Our mobile office has just been informed of the passing of Levon Helm. He was the lead singer and drummer for The Band. Born in Arkansas he was the only non canadian member of the band. Formed in 1958 as The Hawks, Backing singer Ronnie Hawkins, they went on to back Bob Dylan at Woodstock. as any musicians that backed Dylan were referred to as the band, They decided to take that name when preforming solo.

We’re losing way too many of our greatest musicians!….. It’s not fair!….. I, personally, could probably find 3 or 4 thousand Michael Jackson want-ta-be’s that I would rather see boxed and planted, although, even that many wouldn’t balance the scales for the loss of Levon….. Such is the way of Life……

I Agree. I am especally saddened by this, Levon Helm was one of my biggest influences. Ringo being the other one.

Just like Frank Zappa, Levon Helm did not get the recognition he so richly deserved….. I’m sure other musicians knew how great he was, but, since he was so laid back and easy going, the music audience just didn’t get it….. So typical!……
