Help Name our New CD…..

Here’s your chance to give a little help……  We, as in Terraplane, have just finished recording all the tracks for a new CD that we hope to get out in the next few weeks or so…..  There are 4 new originals, 3 new Terraplane cover versions of some songs we like, and, 2 King Crimson covers from the vaults- 1 that we did in ’75 (Lark’s Tongue) and 1 that was done in ’89 (Red Nightmare) under the name of Group Therapy….  So the music is somewhat Alternative-Progressive, I guess?…. Anyway, here is a list of titles we would like you to rate…..  Rate each of them on a scale of 1 to 10…..  1 being, “How Stupid are you to name it that”, and, 10 being, “You really are Stupid if you don’t name it that.”…..  Here’s the List:

  •  1. Future of the Past
  •  2. Slightly On Record
  •  3.  Slightly Off Track
  •  4. Arteriosclerosis
  •  5. Achilles High Heel
  •  6. Gravitation
  •  7.  ReFueled
  •  8.  Speed Bump

So-o-o-o, Take a little time and give all of them a rating between 1 and 10….  We would appreciate your help…..  Any suggestions would also be welcome, just as long as you don’t get too far out of hand…..  Thanks…….

  1. 1. Future of the Past – “Tomorrow is your Future Yesterday” line from the opening song for the late, late show. I don’t know if I like or not. Some time in the future I will enter the Time Warp again and decide then – (?)
    2. and 3. slightly off base – (2)
    4. Arteriosclerosis I like it – (7)
    5. Achilles High Heel needs something a spark maybe -(3)
    6. Gravitation I like, goes with terraPLANE – (8)
    7. ReFueled I like, goes with TerraPLANE and the groups reunion -(9)
    8. Speed Bump goes with cars not planes -(3)
    9. Turbulence Like Speed bump but goes with TerraPLANE – (9)

I have some other names like Rocket Fuel, Crash Landing, Missed the runway, Bombs away, Going Around for Another Pass but who wants to name a CD bomb, miss or crash

  3. Other ideas:

    1. Past perfect or Way Back Machine

    2 On Record, Off Track

    3. Off Track , ( Off Track Bet ??)

    4. Is to hard to say.

    5. High Heel

  4. I don’t guess I know all I need to know about Anon’s comment…… Seems he didn’t like any of the eight selections, made recommendations and/or comments on the first five, and totally ignored 6 through 8….. Are you in a rebelling phase or lost somewhere in the Universe?…… I do, though, like “On Record, Off Track”…… From Robo’s and J.J.’s comments, it looks as if “Gravitation” is on top….. That is what I had originally picked for the name of the CD…. It will be a couple of weeks or so before we have to lock-in a title….. This will give any other MR Community members time to express their input if they are interested….. Thanks for the input so far – Hope to get more….. I will post what we decide on based on ALL the input when the time comes……

  5. Was trying to pare down and punch up the titles you had listed. Thought some were a little long to roll off the tongue. Other than that they looked good to me. 6 through 8 also looked good so I didn’t say anything. Brain too tired to rate each.

  6. Yeah, it does seem shorter titles are more the norm now, but, we can’t forget some of the “Classic” albums with long names….. How about, “A Nod’s as Good as a Wink to a Blind Horse”, by Small Faces (Later just “The Faces”), whose lead singer was Rod Stewart, and lead guitarist was Ron Wood, who is still with “The Rolling Stones” today?….. Long is not so bad sometimes…….

  7. And who could forget “It’s A Good Thing Cows Dont Fly. The World Is Full Of So Much Bull”.

    Long is good.

  8. Longer is definitely more descriptive… I hate to admit that I’m not familiar with the “Cows don’t Fly” line….. What is that from?….. Always ready for more information……

  9. That’s from an old 78. Flip side is “Noses Run In My Family”. Sorry I cant remember the group. Maybe Keith Richards when he was younger.
