Veteran’s Day gets by a lot of folks in the US (actually I tend to still call it Armistice Day, as I learned from my grandfather who was wounded in the Great War) and I wish we would do more cool things like this event from the brits. It’s been in the news and even […]
Not sure of the exact date, but 1914 marked the birth of the Dodge Model 30, first car put out by the Dodge Brothers. (It had a Shaker Hood, as well as Shaker Seats, Shaker Windows, Shaker Roof, well… you get the idea.) And if you need further proof that real men drive a Dodge, […]
You can beat a dead horse, but you can’t always beat a dead rider. Ever hear of Frank Hayes? No? Here’s the skinny: On June 4, 1923, jockey Frank Hayes took off through the gates at Belmont Park on Long Island. He and his horse, Sweet Kiss (a 20-1 shot owned by Miss A.M. Frayling), […]
Ran across this while looking up some obscure old instruments, thought it was a very informative demonstration of what you can do with very little money. This is Scott Ainslie, a blues musician and historian, demonstrating some cigar box guitars. More info on this guy can be found here: http://cattailmusic.com/ Very impressive talent on […]
Ok the annoying election ads are over for another 2 years. Thank God. I couldn’t afford another TV. ( I was about to pull a Elvis and do some indoor target practice). So that being said, lets see what happens now that the Elephants have control of the big white dome. You want my opinion […]
The incomparable Jack Bruce passed away today. I think he was the first to bring virtuosic electric bass playing to the forefront in a rock context (an argument could be made for Entwistle, too). JB was a great vocalist, too, and his ability to sing and play fretless (after his Cream days) boggles the mind.
Happy BD to the OKC Master of the Stratocaster.
Anon sent me an eMail wondering what happened to me…..  I guess between being super busy on still finishing up a couple of CD’s that we have been working on for about a year, and some weird Summer allergies, time just slipped away before I realized it…….  ALERT!  ALERT! Later part of next month (October), MR […]
For those of you new to our world, Jek, MR and some others have an annual outing called “Jojo Fest” One of the first ones was in 2007 in Ft. Worth, TX. MR, and Robo drove down from MR Central in what would become known as “The Jojo Mobile” Afterwards I purchased said vehicle. Here’s […]
Unfortunately, it’s not Beiber, Gaga, Kanye, or even Jane Fonda…. just read that Oklahoman and screen great James Garner passed away Saturday at 86, of natural causes. I liked reruns of Maverick and The Great Escape. I liked watching him in the Rockford Files, though I never understood why Rockford bothered to try, or how […]
OK, some people can’t let go of pets. I get that. Some people go a little crazy over their pets. I get that. This one, I’m not sure of…. is it sad that I kinda like it? Dutch Artist Bart Jansen had a cat named Orville, which ran across a street once too often […]
Sorry for the deluge of links, but I found this on my web wanderings and thought it was just amazing. What if Nikola Tesla formed a rock band, you ask? Well, a lot of geeks have been fiddling around to give us the answer. Tesla coils usually function above the audible range, but someone discovered […]
