BREAKING NEWS:
We Have just been informed of the death of Television Icon Andy Griffith at age 86

(Reuters) – Actor Andy Griffith, whose portrayal of a small-town sheriff made “The Andy Griffith Show” one of American television’s most enduring shows, has died at his North Carolina home, television station WITN reported on Tuesday.

The television station quoted a longtime friend as saying that the 86-year-old actor died at his home on Roanoke Island. The Dare County Sheriff’s dispatcher would say only that an ambulance was called to Griffith’s residence but would not comment further.

Blues Appointment…..

Yep, it’s stressful being a Bluesman…..  I’ve scheduled my appointment for Blue Monday…..

Jim Marshall – R.I.P.

On April 5th, 2012, the Music World lost one of it’s most famous people…..  Not for being a musician, but for the creation in his garage of one of the most famous line of guitar amps known…..  Made even more famous by it’s use by Seattle’s own Jimi Hendrix….  Again, we have to say goodbye to someone who will be sorely missed…..  Jim Marshall – Rest In Peace……  You will be remembered forever by all musicians…..

“Everybody’s Has Something…..

……to Hide Except Me and My Monkey (Beatles)…..  Whatcha’ got to hide, Mr. Prez?…..  Alleged association with guns and drugs can’t be good for your campaign…..  Using Executive Powers to curtail access to the facts is a really DUMB move…..  Even if you, Mr. Prez, had nothing to do with it, playing that card puts you and your co-harts right in the boiling stew pot……  Good Luck in 2012 (you’re gonna need it)……

Thunder Sonics……

Lost AGAIN!!!….  I think the Thunder Sonics have been taking lessons from Bob Stoops and the OU Football team…..  They have a great team during the regular season – Get in the Playoffs – Turn a 0-2 start into a 4 game winning streak getting them into the Finals….  Then they revert to their childhood – Sloppily win the 1st game of the Finals with the finesse of a grade school team –  Continuing at the same level of play, they managed to lose 3 in a row – If they don’t wake up, this coming game will be the end of it……  The Bad Ref excuse just doesn’t cut it……  That happens in any sport…..  OU plays football the same way – They can get to the Championship game and then suffer mass amnesia on how to play the game….  I studied this over the years – If OU jumps out to an early commanding lead, you can almost bet the Farm and all the Chickens that the game won’t end in their favor…..

Seattle, I don’t blame you for dumping the Sonics….  They were asking way too much from the City….  Well, OKC asked for them, and got it – “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels” worth…..  Don’t get me wrong – I would like to see them come back and pull it off – But, I doubt it!…..

“Come Together…..

….Right Now (actually 40 some odd years later), Over Us”……  Seems MRambler Central has the ability to bring people in contact that left Oklahoma and all it’s Glory (or Gory) long, long ago…..  Greg Gellman picked-up on a Post made way back in January, 2006 called, “Musicians Stand Up and be Counted”, which, by the way had his name mentioned by one of the people who made a comment…..  Turns out Greg actually played in a band prior to Terraplane by the name of Phoenix that “Randolph the Grey” (Greg, we all use user names on the blog, I think you know who I am talking about) as lead vocalist, Roger Harrison on Bass, and John Proctor on drums…..  Add me, MRambler, and this is the current line-up for Terraplane….  I approved his comment and made one myself (check it out by clicking on the list of comments to the right, or, use the search engine)….  I also sent him an e-mail and will pass on his e-mail (which is in his comment) to the other band members…..  His reply was as follows (with a little editing by MR):

Randolph the Grey was a good band leader and I enjoyed my time with him…..  My trip to Vegas with Jesse really launched me on a music career that took me to several other states to live and a couple of dozen more to play in.  So many cool friends and musicians and a couple of wives and two daughters and now 3 grand kids all began from venturing out of OKC after dropping out of OU to persue my dream.

Greg, there’s lots of us old guys still here and still playing – If you make it back to Oklahoma get in contact – Harrison said he would love to have someone else play bass so he can pursue some other instruments….  Good Luck with your Music, and, at a minimum, join our Blog, of course, you will need a user name, such as “Bassman“……

XXX Olympics 2012

It would probably be more enjoyable if it were the Triple X Olympics instead of the 30th. But I Digress. I heard this morn on the news that a basketball player could not practice because of an injury, Come to find out, the player who plays with the San Antonio Spurs is playing for the French Team. OK, 1. Why is a current NBA player playing on the French team?!! 2. when did the olympics become the worlds All Star Game? Isn’t the games supposed to be for AMATEUR Athletes?

Happy Father’s Day……

Robo made a comment on the previous post about Father’s Day…..  I don’t know why he didn’t just go ahead and make it a Post, so-o-o-o, I guess I will do it……  Happy Fathers Day tomorrow to all you Dads, Pops, Fathers, Big Cheeses, Head Peanuts, etc……

Enjoy your day – You only get ONE a year – All the other 364 days are Mother’s and Offspring’s Day (for sure)…..

Anything to Add?…..

It has been boring – Yes, B-O-R-I-N-G – here in Oklahoma the last few weeks……  My mind is numb with the strange weather and nothing – I mean N-O-T-H-I-N-G – going on that interests me – ergo, I didn’t think it would be of interest to the MR Community…..  If anybody – I say A-N-Y-B-O-D-Y – has anything cool, different, or weird to Post, Please – yes P-L-E-A-S-EPOST IT…..

I’m too old to die of Boredom“Help me if you can, I’m feeling do-ow-ow-n”

Memorial Day Weekend…..

Wishing the MR Community and everyone a Safe Memorial Day Weekend…..  Remember to honor the memories of all those who are no longer with us…..  Just don’t become a memory yourself – Drive Safe – Be Safe…..

There’s a lot of people out there that think of this weekend as the first BIG Party weekend of the SummerWatch out for them!……  Other than that – Have a GREAT Memorial Day……

Help Name our New CD…..

Here’s your chance to give a little help……  We, as in Terraplane, have just finished recording all the tracks for a new CD that we hope to get out in the next few weeks or so…..  There are 4 new originals, 3 new Terraplane cover versions of some songs we like, and, 2 King Crimson covers from the vaults- 1 that we did in ’75 (Lark’s Tongue) and 1 that was done in ’89 (Red Nightmare) under the name of Group Therapy….  So the music is somewhat Alternative-Progressive, I guess?…. Anyway, here is a list of titles we would like you to rate…..  Rate each of them on a scale of 1 to 10…..  1 being, “How Stupid are you to name it that”, and, 10 being, “You really are Stupid if you don’t name it that.”…..  Here’s the List:

  •  1. Future of the Past
  •  2. Slightly On Record
  •  3.  Slightly Off Track
  •  4. Arteriosclerosis
  •  5. Achilles High Heel
  •  6. Gravitation
  •  7.  ReFueled
  •  8.  Speed Bump

So-o-o-o, Take a little time and give all of them a rating between 1 and 10….  We would appreciate your help…..  Any suggestions would also be welcome, just as long as you don’t get too far out of hand…..  Thanks…….

Happy Birthday, Jek!…..

Now, I’m not saying today is his Birthday – It might be tomorrow, or the next day,or, maybe even yesterday…..  Don’t want to give out too much personal information to the more than slightly off-center society that we live in today…..  Anyway, I’m sure Jek knows when his Birthday is, and, it’s around this time of year (Maybe, Ha!)…..

So, Happy Birthday Jek, and thanks for all the work and effort you have given to this Blog – I would not be making this Post, nor would this Blog even exist without Mr. Jek……  Not only did he set-up the Blog, it is run though his server without any cost to the MR Community!…..  Thanks Jek, you’re are definitely one of the Good Guys…..

Let’s hear it for Jek, even though he is a year older, but, hopefully wiser and happier…..  Happy Birthday, JEK…..
