…as long as you’re NOT in Oklahoma right now…. It’s 28 degrees and we have freezing fog…. There’s vehicles everywhere – in the ditches, upside down, downside up – They’re all over the roads too, but not moving….. Oh, Yeah, Happy Valentine’s Day….. The funny thing – if you want to call it funny– is that all this freezing fog is supposed to go away in the next 1 1/2 hours or so…. The high for the day, get this, 55 degrees!…. We haven’t even been getting to freezing (32 degrees) for a high the last couple of days….  Yep, 28 right now,  55 today – 60 Tomorrow – Only in Oklahoma…..
Oh, Yeah, HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY…..  Treat somebody nice today (for a few minutes at least)…..  PDB Bob say’s it’s the Day to send him “Presents of Respect”…..  Anything will do, as long as it has monetary value (preferably large value)…….  So much for PD Bob’s view…..
Again – HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY….. Â Any Comments?…..
I think each person on here fancies themselves a musical aficionado. Typically, “Top X” lists are pretty silly (e.g., the Rolling stone top-100 guitarists list we discussed sometime back), but….
It would be cool to hear peoples’ lists of desert island albums. As to arbitrary ground rules, I’m thinking top-10 albums/CDs. They can be double-albums but no “Complete Works of the Beatles” or any other circumventing of the rules like that :-). Live albums are fine. Rock, blues, gangsta rap, jazz, classical, or anything else musical is fine.
I mostly have my list down but need to think about it a bit more…
Feel free to discuss the ground rules and we can modify if desired.
…..Another six weeks of Winter, Although, in the condition PD Bob was after all his partying and carrying on, I really doubt if he saw his shadow or not….. Â Still, He had to get his due :
Just a little advance warning – PD Bob’s all excited and on the loose!….. Â He may show up at anyone’s house (and I do mean Anyone’s)…… Â He’s been on the phone, the computer, making packages – you name it, He’s up to it!…. Â More on this story tomorrow – If MR Headquarters still exist…….
I ever knew….. Â I received the sad news from Jek today of Holstein’s passing…. Â Any of you, and there are a few, who remember Jek’schildhood dog, Lucy, Holstein is, at this moment, sitting right next to Lucy discussing their likes and dislikes of Master Jek….. Â They were both more human than a lot of people I know, and that’s not stretching the truth one bit!….. Â I personally will miss her, despite the few small claw scars I have when I bugged her just a smidgen too much…. Â Good cats are easy to find, Cats like Holstein are a God send….
Jek gave me permission to reprint this e-mail that he and Tarn sent to family and friends, and, I think Jek and Tarn consider the MR Community as family as well……
Dear friends and family,
Thursday we said goodbye to Holstein (aka Bein Bein), our beloved feline family member of almost 12 years. Holstein came with our house, but as an outdoor cat not particularly interested in people. Our early attempts at vet care didn’t help endear her to us, but after a year or so she decided that winter nights were best spent indoors. We fashioned a bell on the front doorknob, and she trained us to let her out when she rang it. Always a purring, loving cat, she mellowed over the years, finally becoming a lap-cat who enjoyed the cat brush and even direct application of a vacuum. Holstein had a knack for stumping the vet with various ailments, dealing with each new challenge as if it were a mountain to conquer. Everyone at the vet was always happy to see her, and her doctor called her the sweetest cat in the practice. She still loved to go outside, and she’d routinely sharpen her claws as if she we about to go on a big hunt, though typically she’d just end up on the front porch surveying her land, keeping an eye on those chirping birds. Those of you who knew Holstein may have been lucky enough to have her “kiss” you by nudging her face into yours, usually followed by a scratchy tongue attack on your cheek. We love you Holstein.
Obscure Musicology 101 – Another good one from Anon….. The first chord of “A Hard Day’s Night” – Never thought of it much, other than it was pretty cool and kicked the song off great… After finding out how it was done and that John, George, and Paul are ALL playing different parts on that single chord, I’ll never hear it in the same way again!…. I never noticed Paul’s Bass note before, or the double guitars with the complicated strange fingerings that John and George added…..  Timeless Music at it’s best!…..
I woke up this morning to a weird smell coming from the kitchen….. Â I found PD Bob busy at work making a mess….. Somewhere he came up with some Water Buffalo Ribs that he had been cooking in barbecue sauce all night long…. Â I think he actually expects to serve them for dinner today…. Â He’s prancing around, proud as punch with himself, so I guess I’m going to have to try them, no matter what….. Â I’m calling him “Buffalo Bob” now…. Â I don’t even know if they have Water Buffalo in China!…. Â Anyone want to come for dinner?……
Here’s another snapshot that Anon sent me….. It was originally titled, “So much for that Global Warming/Endangered Species claptrap!!!!”, but, I know the inside story…. Whitey the  Polar Bear is merely being a good citizen and is offering the pedestrian on the passenger’s side of Whitey’s Ford pick-up a ride (Yes, Polar Bear’s can get Driver’s Licenses in Seattle)….  This pic was taken on Pine Street in the Capitol Hill District in Seattle……
As far as the Global Warming crap, I agree, it’s mis-named….. It should be called “Global Climatic Change” because most of World is experiencing more of the weather that they normally get, and, in some cases, complete reversal of the “Norm”….. In Oklahoma, we’re already getting Burn Ban Warnings…. We ended 2011 in an “Extreme Drought”, and, so far in 2012, we’ve had about two snowflakes of moisture…. Â As soon as everything burns to the ground, we will be an official “Desert”…..
Anon sent me this pic of Jimi Hendrix’s statue that’s located in downtown Seattle….. Â Some ingenious pranksters turned Jimi into a snowman…… Â The other pic is one I took years ago without the snowman disguise……
Bottom Line: Don’t become a ground level statue if you can’t stand the attention…..
Bill Moyer is back on PBS, “Bill Moyer And Company” ….Sunday nights at 6:00 here in Seattle. His first show was an interview with Hacker and Pierson about their new book “How Washington Made The Rich Richer – And Turned It’s Back On The Middle Cl

by accident.
Glad a respected and challenging voice is back.
Our offices have just learned of the death of Jim “Motorhead” Sherwood on 25 Dec 2011.
Fans of Frank Zappa will know Motorhead as the head roadie, equipment handler, eventual Baritone Sax Player, and Teen Heartthrob When he was not hustling groupies. On the back cover of The 1968 Album “Were Only In It For The Money” He is the only one facing the camera. He passed in Los Angeles he was 69.

Here at MR Central Headquarters it is 2012….. Â It is just barely 2012 by a minute or so – Oklahoma (CST) Time….. Â I noticed the Blog’slog clock shows it’s an hour or so into the New Year – I guess it’s set to Eastern Standard Time – In any case, all of you West Coasters are “Living in the Past” because at the time of this Post it’s still 2011 there –HA!....
So-o-o, a big HAPPY NEW YEAR’S to everyone, even if it’s not New Year’s where you are yet……
…..to start that New Year’s Revolution list….. Â As I said before, it will be a Revolution, not a Resolution, to my usual daily routine if I really follow through on any of the items I have in mind for the coming Year….. Â I have little problem with the first part – The 1st half is thinking of the Revolutions, the 2nd half is writing them down, and here is the wall I run into – The 3rd half is actually doing them!….. Â That 3rd half is a real bitch!….
Oh, Well, OUT with Old Man 2011, and IN with New Baby 2012!….. Â I, at least, promise to do my best….. Â Here’s one of my Revolutions: Â I’ve been rather LAX on the Blog, so I hereby plan to Post More even if it’s something lame and mundane…. Â Simple things are sometimes most interesting if presented in the right way (what an excuse….eh?)…..
Anybody got any Revolutions they want to share with the Community?….. Â We are ready to listen and cut them to pieces (did I write that out loud?)…..
Just updated the Blog….. Â There are some changes, including how you upload media files….. Â There is just a single icon labeled Upload/Insert on the Add New Post area….. Â This covers all media – video, .jpgs, and audio…. Â Also you can drag and drop .jpgs directly into your Post….. Â If you have any questions – Don’t ASK ME, but, I will pass them along to Jek if I can’t answer them…… Â It’s a better and more secure Blog, but, progress entails learning, sometimes that’s not the easiest of things for us old-timers…… Â New Year’s Revolution (or Resolution, if you prefer) for the Community – POST MORE, COMMENT MORE, and EVERYBODY WILL ENJOY MORE….. Â Just a thought….. Â Happy New Year……
