The Best Breakfast I Ever Had

Anon suggested this for a topic and I think it’s great.  Check out his first course on this topic.  For me, I really don’t have a particular standout in mind.  But I will say that my Grandma’s grits and round bacon were the best.  Yes you heard right, round bacon.  Maybe MR can elaborate on it, as I don’t recall ever seeing the packaging.

Pancakes?…..

You can blame this one on Jek…… He suggested “Pancakes” as a topic in my previous post….. Maybe he remembered “Pancake Records and Tapes” in his subconscious since it was a long time ago or maybe he was talking about the eating kind….. Here’s the “Pancake” story…..

We had recorded a few live concerts (including McCartney in 1990) and made a few copies for friends of what you could call “Bootleg Recordings”…. So-o-o, I came up with the name “Pancake Records and Tapes”, a division of “Too-Loose Productions” as the recording company….. Jek and his then college mate, HuskySooner made a recording called “Water Police” under the name of “Thevenin” for a class they were taking….. So-o-o, naturally, I issued a cassette single….. Here’s what it looked like on the “Pancake” label:

As you can see I blocked out Jek and HuskySooners real names, but I think most of us know who there are….. I even got my name (MR) in there on the Mix-Down (Ha!)……  Now, if you want to hear this classic, you’ll have to request Jek and HS to give their permission and I’ll be glad to post it up….. Also, if anyone has a pancake story (food or otherwise), now’s the time to tell it…..

Any Ideas?……

Look’s like we’ve left out the Seattle connection on Mr. J.’s post on Oklahoma Malls, so, I’m (MR) looking for suggestions on topics to discuss from any and all in the Community….. Believe me, I have opinions on anything!…. Just ask Jek….. Just give me a direction – Music, Politics (yuck), History, etc., etc…..

Just give me a direction and I’ll make a Post and wait for the comments to come pouring in (hopefully)…… Of course, you Community members are more than welcome to make a Post at anytime…. Wintertimes on the way and what better way to spend those cold frozen tundra nights indoors making Posts on MR Central?…… ….eh?

Mall Stories?

Jek gave me a idea from a comment. I know a lot of our community is from the Oklahoma area,( sorry Seattleites) so Anybody got any good stories related to any of our malls? That will be going away soon, or even those that will survive the e-commerce revolution. (Penn Square, Quail Springs, Sooner Fashion(Norman),Heritage Park, or Crossroads.
And yes MR you have to tell the story of the Black Challenger and the Crossroads Parking lot.

This mall has everything

The end of an era is finally upon us. Mall

The Answer really is 42

Bye Sarah, Thanks for calling

Will some one please tell the Palin Family (And I do not mean Michael) that their 15 minutes is up, and please crawl back under whatever pile of Moose Dung they came from up there in the tundra. The fact that anyone even pays attention to what they are up to or saying…………..OK you got me there, If I throw a stick will they leave GO AWAY

The home of the BRAVE

I was listening to Eggman the last 2 days and the topic of choice is the controversy surrounding the singing of the National anthem at Sooner games. Now it has been over 30 years since I set foot inside Owen Stadium for a game but I hear the new thing is at the end of the Star Spangled Banner the crowd says The Home of the Sooners. The proper words are The Home of The Brave. Some are saying that it’s no big deal but I disagree. The Song is the official song of the nation, our National anthem. It has lyrics that mean something, And many of our fellow citizens went to foreign lands and made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could have the freedom to sing that song.
Now some say “It’s just a song, one word doesn’t matter” But it Does. It is disrespectful to the memory to those that fought and died for our freedom to change the words.
University President Boren, and Head Coach Stoops have asked the fans not to sing that way but it seems to go on.
I say Just because we have the right, does not mean it’s right to do. Now this weekend we play the Air force academy in Norman, I hope that the over zealous half drunk fans at the game can realize that this might be offensive to others and sing it right.
Now don’t get me wrong I hope we send the AF Players back to Colorado Springs mourning their loss but lets show them that we have some class in doing it.
GO SOONERS

Chicago Blues…..

“Just a White Boy lost in the Blues” (John Mayall) – Chicago style, that is!…. Having a great time in the Windy City, takin’ in the sights and especially the Blues Sounds…..

Here’s a couple of great Bluesmen I had the honor to see perform live since I’ve been here, and, if you’re Blues inclined, check ’em out…. The first is a great guitarist – Eric “Guitar” Davis and the Troublemakers….. The other is Harmonica Hinds, Mr. Super Harp…. Both were extraordinary and the venues were the Best….. Click on them and Bluz-out…..

Being a Blues guitarist and a harp player, this has indeed been an excellent trip…. First trip to Sweet Home Chicago and, “Baby, I PLEASE Don’t Wanna Go”!!!….

Fuel Additive…..

I went into the local WalMart to purchase some fuel additive for my ’89 Dodge Raider….. With 180k on the odometer it sometimes gets in these sluggish moods…. The check-out lady asked me if I was at least 18 years of age in order to purchase the product…. I replied, rather snippy, “Lady, my car is old enough to buy this”…. As a matter of fact, the old Raider is now 21 – legal drinking age…. I think I’ll start giving it a shot of Vodka every once in a while….. Might work better than the manufactured stuff…. I wonder if I could convince a cop to arrest the Raider for drunk driving instead of me if the situation ever came up?….

Seattle Strikes Back?……

It’s long lost history concerning the Seattle Sonics ending up being the Oklahoma City Thunder, but, here’s the latest rumor from the sports section. OKC’s arena football team, the Yard Dawgz, is rumored to be headed to Seattle….. OKC officials claim it’s not true…. We’ve all heard that one before….. If this comes down, I’m not sure who is getting the short-end of the stick as I’ve never personally attended a Thunder or Dawgz game….

Faith Restored – Somewhat….

We had a runoff election yesterday between two Republican candidates…. Candidate #1, a Mr. Calvey, had been in the political circus for 14 years, elected 6 times, and expected to win the primary election a few weeks back with no problem….. ProblemCandidate #2, a Mr. Langsford, had never run for any political office before, but, he managed to get enough votes to force the runoff election held yesterday…..

Shortly after the Primaries, Mr. Calvey, who was definitely peeved over the situation, went ballistic and started a series of mud slinging you would not believe, including fake polling calls that berated Mr. Langsford (Of course, he denied having anything to do with it), and an extensive TV commercial barrage of how he was much more qualified, etc…..

His biggest mistake was agreeing to a televised debate….. It was something to see – It was the Bully against the Nice Guy….. Calvey kept getting louder and more boisterous, making all kinds of accusations against Langsford as to his qualifications for the seat, including some remarks about his mother and family….. Mr. Langsford kept his cool, and, in a calm voice, more than proved his qualifications and his ability to deal with loudmouths…..

Well, I’m happy to say, Langsford prevailed with a 65% to 35% win! Restored my faith in Oklahoma voters, and, maybe, just maybe, voters nationwide will take the time to research the candidates they vote for and we can save this nation from itself….. What a concept!…..

The Red “Power” Tie……

Just how low can our IQ’s go?….. Saw this one on the news a couple of weeks back…… Men who want to attract women need to wear “Red”…. Apparently, the color Red strikes a woman’s fancy, as opposed to the normal subdued browns and blacks worn by males….. I guess it has the opposite effect on women as it does on Bulls…. A “REVELATION”! – Maybe it does effect Bulls the same way – They just want to get close and intimate with the Bullfighter!….. That’s what you call “Rough Foreplay”Ouch!…..

I dismissed this UNTIL I started noticing an abnormal amount of POLITICIANS on TV wearing, you guessed it, RED TIES….. Known as the “Red Power Tie”….. The person I’ve seen most often wearing the glaring Red stripe is none other than Mr. Obama….. Those Politicians don’t miss a trick…… I wonder if they have palm readers and soothsayers on the payrolls too?….. PLEASE, PLEASE, vote these career self-servers OUT of office…..

Friday the 13th!…..

Today’s THAT day to run and hide, get out those good luck charms – STAY AT HOME…… Yeah, Friday the 13th does have a lot of history behind it, mostly based on religious events of evil and deviltry, hence the supposed Bad Luck associated with it…… Since my Luck usually runs backwards, I’ve had a fairly decent day so far – Did some mechanic work without hitting myself in the head with the socket wrench – Practiced my Guitar without breaking any strings or fingers – And, I plan to attend a Birthday party tonight at a local Pub (Uh-Ho, that could turn badNa-ah!)…..

PD Bob, on the other hand, has fifteen (15) Rabbit Foots (or is it Feets) around his neck, along with Garlic Cloves, and is hiding in the most secure part of MR Central watching all the Friday the 13th movies….. He’s begging for refills on popcorn and coke as I Post this since he is too scared to get them himself…… That did it – He’s cussing me in Prairie Dog-ese now….. Gotta go – He’s throwing the “Feets” at me…..

Religious Recruiting?…..

I don’t watch much TV, usually just catch the news and weather early in the morning…… Just before the primaries a few weeks ago, I noticed these commercials popping up in groups of two during the broadcast….. They start off with a person introducing themselves – I’m so-and-so and I’m an housewife, sculptor, ex-druggie, etc….. I’ve seen about 12 different ones…. The 30 second commercial continues with I do this/that – basically I’m normal person looking for the same things everyone else is looking for in life…. The spot ends with, “I’m so-and-so and I’m a Mormon”….. Then a medium font scrolls across the screen with their name and the web address – Mormon.org…..

Are the Mormons recruiting or just trying to convince people that their religion is made up of normal, everyday, God fearing people and are not to be confused with, say like, Muslims?….. I mean, they both start with an “M” – Do they think people would confuse the two and take them for the radical one, although, the Mormons have some radical ideas, just not as violent…. I have to admit I don’t know that much about either and God told me to stay out of it…. He said I would not be an asset to either one….. I’m still thinking on that one (Will I be smoking a Turd in Hell? (Robin Williams))…. Any Comments or Commandments?
